Frequently Asked Questions: 

 

 

Does my child need to know how to swim? 

  • Your child needs to be able to jump into the pool and be able to get from one end of the pool to another. 

 

Does my child need to know how to do the different strokes? 

  • No, that's what we are here for. We will teach them all they need to know about swimming, from diving in, different strokes, how to properly breathe and flip turns. 

 

What do we need to buy aside from the $90 registration fee? 

  • Swimmers will want goggles, we do sell goggles during practice but you are welcome to purchase goggles from anywhere. 
  • Swimsuits, we do not sell swimsuits but do suggest www.swimoutlet.com. We do ask that girls wear one piece suits for practices and swim meets.

 

When does the practice start? 

  • Normally the Tuesday after Memorial Day is the first official practice. 
  • We are at the mercy of the Macon County Rec Park Pool and do not have an official start date until closer to that date. Please check our Facebook page (Franklin F.A.S.T. Fins) and website (www.swimfast8282.com)  for updates. 

 

How often are practices? 

  • Before swim meets start we practice Monday through Thursdays.  Once swim meets start we practice Monday through Wednesday and have our swim meets on Thursday. 

 

How long is the swim season? 

  • The swim season usually starts the day after Memorial Day and ends the 3rd or 4th weekend in July. 

 

What happens if we are out of town for a swim meet?

  • It's OK!  Email us or mark on the event signup sheet that your swimmer will not be here for the swim meet.  We will see you when you get back. 

 

What is Conference Swim Meet? 

  • Conference swim meet is when ALL the teams in the Mountain Swim League (MSL) come together to compete on a Saturday. 
  • Conferences is usually hosted by us in Franklin and starts at 9 am and typically ends by 2 pm. 
  • You need to swim in at least two regular season meets to participate in Conference. 

 

What is All-Stars? 

  • All-Stars is an extra swim meet at the end of the season that qualified swimmers compete in. 
  • Qualifiying times can be found in the Red Book based on age and gender. 
  • You must swim in at least three swim meets and have a qualifying time in order to compete in the All-Star meet.
